Corby Battery Energy Storage System Project |
The Corby Battery Energy Storage System Project proposes construction of a 300-megawatt battery storage facility on roughly 40 acres in Solano County, California. The project would install hundreds of large battery units, inverters, transformers, and associated infrastructure, fundamentally changing the character of the site from open land to a heavy industrial energy complex. In addition to the battery arrays themselves, the facility would require a new substation and high-voltage transmission connections to integrate with the regional grid.
While the project is described as supporting renewable energy and grid reliability, it would introduce long-term industrial operations, increased truck traffic during construction, and potential safety concerns associated with large-scale lithium-ion battery storage, including fire risk and hazardous materials management. |
